Discussion of UNT's Admissions Standards
Roughly 30% of applicants to the University of North Texas will not get in, but the admissions bar isn't unreasonably high, and most hard-working students with decent grades and standardized test scores should have little difficulty getting in. In the graph above, the green and blue data points represent admitted students. You can see that the great majority of successful applicants had combined SAT scores (RW+M) of 900 or higher, an ACT composite score of 17 or higher, and a high school average of a "B-" or better. Your chances will be better with grades and test scores above these lower ranges, and a significant percentage of successful applicants had grades up in the "A" ranges. It is possible that your class rank and standardized test scores can qualify you for guaranteed admission. See the UNT admissions website for more information.
While your grades and test scores can guarantee your admission, admission to the University of North Texas is not a simple mathematical equation. The university takes into consideration your overall potential and your personal circumstances during the admissions process. The university uses the ApplyTexas application and considers factors such as family obligations, extracurricular activities, community service, awards and honors, employment, internships, and summer activities. The ApplyTexas application also invites applicants to send a paper resume of activities, service, talents, and employment. If you've been active in any of these areas, mailing a resume is a good idea for beefing up your application and demonstrating your interest. Finally, the university will look the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grades, so AP, IB, and Dual Enrollment courses can all help demonstrate your college readiness.
